Middle Rhine Music Festival: Finale by opera
planning for next season are already underway - Autumn weather forced the move
Boppard. "Our death is the triumph of love - forever united in death": They are even strong words for the conclusion of a festival. Even more, if - smashed in Italian, too high arches resounding music of strong voices - adopting a top-class opera gala. Soprano Janice Dixon, many opera fans in the region from their numerous appearances at the Mannheim National Theatre and the Wiesbaden State Theatre well known, put together with tenor Eduardo Villa a grand final duet from Umberto Giordano's opera "Andrea Chenier" out. The exclamation mark after an evening of great voices, complete with the also in the Rhine-Main area well-known baritone Yuri Batukov.
That there ever was a festival that could be completed as solemnly ago, nine months had it not safe bet too many people. With the departure of Rainer Neumann, he initiated the Rhine River was connected music moments as a director of the Rheinische Philharmonie, not only initially, a new director and a new festival director had installed be: even jumped one of the main supporters of the festival, the cultural foundation of the country, from leadership for failing to properly document the festival.
Under new leadership, a new name and with significantly delayed announcement came but still managed a program: 4500 visitors have counted the festival management in 14 concerts. And the final concert, it would certainly have a few more may be, the weather had not made a spanner in the works: instead went there in the open air Bopparder city hall. Certainly one of the more beautiful city halls, but it is not a good concert hall for classical music. Thus, the Rheinische Philharmonie had duly under its chief conductor Daniel Raiskin fight against the dry acoustics issuing any sound like on a dissecting table and wants to control not a bit of reverb. Since fall silent in places such as the overture from Verdi's "Force of Destiny" quickly into parts, and only after a corresponding Forte raises the desirable pulse of the harmony of beautiful operatic voices with the orchestra so right.
The program was created by singer agent and presenter Rainer Zagovec wisely chosen the title "Forbidden Love": not only individual train numbers, but trails in arias and ensembles, an empathy with operas such as "Aida" or "An-drea Chenier" possible made. This then means Rares also as Pietro Mascagni Overture from "Le Maschere" - and then all too familiar to the end. After the grueling final duet orchestral bouncer would suffice well have, instead, it was for the enthusiastic audience then perhaps unimaginative most gala additions at all to the "Traviata" drinking song to clap along and the weary tenor that seems inevitable "Nessun dorma".
